Let there be LIGHT!

LED Light Bar continued...

This weekend, I finally finished installing my Eyourlife LED light bar.  A picture is worth a thousand words, so please enjoy this 7,042 word blog post.

Custom bracket bolted to bumper

LED bar mounted

Reasonable clearance with the front mount intercooler

Bumper and lower grille modified

Bumper and lower grille modified

All put back together

Toggle switch to control power
It might look a little tacky, but the light output is magnificent!

  1. That’s amazing, how much that light cost? I want one to my car too. Btw this will really help me. Thanks for sharing.

    1. (I'm not sure if my previous response posted...)
The light bar was $60, see the Amazon link at the top. However, I bought this from a friend who included the switch and wiring. I am not 100% sure if the Amazon product comes with all of the accessories.

    4. If your car is automatic, you can feed the wires through a grommet that sits in place of the clutch pedal. You can see this from within the cabin by pulling back the carpet. From the engine bay, it sits behind the battery box.

If your car is manual, you can use the firewall pass through on the passenger side where all of the cabin fuse box wires lead. If you look on the fire wall, you'll see where the bundle of wires leads. From inside the cabin, you'll have to reach up behind the glove box for access. It may be easier to remove your glove box for this task.

  2. It does not come with the switch. I ordered this bar and a switch after seeing your video and the bar only comes with wires protruding from it to hookup a switch. I purchased the opt7 switch and harness on amazon to go with it and hopefully install it this weekend.

  3. Hello, I had a similar lightbar installed on a XC90 by a mechanic friend. I took it to Volvo because my BLIS light was coming on. They tell me that the mechanic in question ran the wires into the ECM but with time water got into it. How did you install yours? Thanks!

    1. I ran a fuse and power wire directly to the battery, similar to the fuse/wire you might have for an aftermarket amplifier. The switch interrupted the power wire, so I could turn it on and off independently, even if the car was off. The ground I just ran into the frame of the car.

    1. I had no problem at all, living in the Atlanta area. It is an upgraded FMIC, which is about twice the size of stock. So that may be why I haven't experienced any problems. Admittedly, it's not the best location for a light bar since it does obstruct cooling. But I'd rather have the extra light for night driving with my current commute.
