Rear Seat Delete

It's a two door hatchback, who needs a back seat?  If I needed room for friends and family, I would have kept my sedan.  If I didn't want decent cargo space, I would have bought a coupe.

Two door hatchbacks are very versatile vehicles, even more so once you remove a couple of seats.

Of course weight reduction was a big advantage to removing the back seats.  But the extra space converts my hatchback into a fully enclosed pickup truck.  Stay tuned as I will soon be building rear shelf to cover the exposed floor.  I'm also considering relocating the battery to the back, as well as a half roll cage.  With so much room for activities, the possibilities are endless!

  1. Wow, I really like what you've done with your RSD. I saw other photos on SwedeSpeed ( iThink?) with the full cover, shelves and what looks to be a treasure chest, based on the hinges. I did this to my previous car, MINI Cooper S, and have been debating doing it to the C30. Your pictures sold me. Do you have any shots looking in from the front? Does it actually have a secret treasure chest? Thanks a bunch, Dave.

    1. There's a good size cavity from where the seats were removed. I'm currently working on a battery relocation and will then be building a carpeted shelf to cover the exposed metal. Also finishing up a rear strut brace which will function as a harness mounting point.
